Our prayers and thoughts are with the family of Donald Handberry . Went to school with Donald at Louisville Academy , and had an enjoyable work summer in 1964 working with Donald at the J. P. Stevens Plant outside Louisville . We were summer maintenance help , and Donald had a year of UGA under his belt , and I had just graduated from Louisville Academy and headed to Ga. Tech in Sept. 1964.

My Prayers are with Don and his wonderful family.  I knew Don while working at the Gun Cabinet, Inc. Augusta, GA.  Don was a true gentleman, and always had a kind word.  He loved hunting, and all those who shared his passion for the outdoors. He will be sorely missed!  Don will not be forgotten.  Indeed a true man of Christ.  In HIM all things are possible, and Don's life demonstrates this fact.

Dear Mrs. Marie, Don, Little Marie & Chapman,
My sympathy is extended to each of  you.  As long as I have know your family the love you all have for one another has always been valued and seen.  There was never a time that I did not see Mr. Don that he did not extend his arms out to give me a hug or a peck on the cheek.  He did that just 3 weeks ago when I saw him in the Mexican Restaurant.  My prayer is that our merciful God wrap his arms around each of you through the days and months and years to come.  I pray for peace in your hearts and that wonderful memories flood your mind each day.  Love to all from the bottom of my heart.

Don, Marie and Chapman -

We were so incredibly sad to hear of Mr. Handberry's passing.  We have so many cherished memories of good and sad times with the Handberrys, the Pritchetts, the McElreaths and the Haskins -- law school socials, football games, beach trips, weddings, funerals, 5Ks, birthdays, grandparent days, school functions, etc.

There are just some people you expect to always be here in our lives  --  because they always are where they are supposed to be.   Your Dad was one of those people.  He had his priorities in order - God, family and community.    He was a constant - a simple man, a rare and fine Southern gentleman who was beloved by so many.

Mr. Handberry never wanted to be the center of attention but we always knew he was there -- holding up the foundation, a pillar of his community, his church and his family.     Your Dad was real and unpretentious  -- a safe spot to land in a crowded room and the kind of man you knew would always have your back.  He was a person you could call on and he would stop everything and unselfishly do the right thing.     He always had a generous heart, a good story, a jovial spirit and a kind word for anyone who stopped long enough to hear -- a unique, hardworking small town soul who was very much at peace with his life.

Mr. Handberry was so very proud of you.  You were truly his pride and joy.   He beamed whenever he talked about his family  -- his greatest accomplishment.   You owe so much of who you are to your Dad.   He lives on in you and in your children every single day.   He is in your words, in your thoughts and in your heart.    He is the face you will see in your mirror.    He is the voice you will hear in your head to keep you on the right path.    He is the nudge you will feel to guide you to the next stage.   That will be his true legacy!    You are his legacy!

We look forward to the day when we will meet William Donald Handberry, Sr. again.   No doubt he will have a section of Heaven reserved for hunting and a big barbecue and a bonfire ready and waiting for his friends - in true Southern style.

Meanwhile, our loss is Jesus' gain!  You are in our deepest prayers.   We are here.

We love you,
Grant, Gina and Gray Greenwood (Macon, GA)

My Mother and Father, Marquerite and Milton Steed loved Don and your family.  My Dad especially spoke of the fine man he was and his leadership in the church.  Don served as a pallbearer at both of their funerals and I will always remember his kindness and gentle spirit.  I pray for you and your loss.  God is faithful and I pray that as the days pass God will reveal Himself daily as you walk this path of grief to God's promises of hope and healing.
