George Anthony Deraney

Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and funeral services of Mr. George Anthony Deraney, age 61 of Highway 123, Mitchell, Georgia who died Monday, January 18, 2016 in the University Hospital McDuffie. 

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, January 22, 2016 in the Mitchell Methodist Church with Rev. Mary Griswell and Rev. Al Curtz officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot of Mitchell City Cemetery. 

Mr. Deraney was a native of Thomson but had lived in Glascock County most of his life.  He retired after many years of service in sales and investments and was a jack of all trades, including a skilled musician. 

George was preceded in death by his parents; John Habib & Margaret Farah Deraney, and son; Michael Deraney and is survived by wife; Carrie Deraney of Mitchell, daughters; Erin D. and Robert Arnett of Warthen and Ellie D. Frost Gawthrop of Dublin, sons; Jason Deraney of Mitchell and George Deraney, Jr. of Mitchell, sisters; Ann and Steve Clay of Miami, FL, and  Rose Marie Deraney of Mitchell, brother; Danny and Lonna Deraney of Mitchell, 8 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews & a host of friends. 

The family will receive friends Thursday, January 21, 2016 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
