Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and funeral services of Mr. Terry Redfern, age 79, of Gibson who died Wednesday morning, August 18, 2021, at his residence.
Funeral Services will be held 11:00AM Saturday, August 21, 2021, in the Sheppard Memorial Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. John Jenkins officiating. Burial will follow at Gibson Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chad Beggs, Jackson Williams, Aaron Gunby, Will Landrum, Jimmy Kelley, and Ray Beggs. Honorary Pallbearers will be Emily Williams, Hannah Williams, Claire Williams, Cecily Gunby, and Skyla Beggs.
Terry was born in Mitchell and was a life-long resident of Glascock County. He was the son of the late Nathaniel “Hooks” Redfern and Audrey Johnson Redfern. Terry worked for Stapleton Garment for 38 years- retiring as Plant Manager. He was a faithful member of Reedy Creek Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon Emeritus and on Building and Grounds committee, where he was always willing to help. Terry was a dedicated husband, father, papa, and friend who never met a stranger. His greatest pastime was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Terry was the epitome of a humble, gentle, God loving Christian. His absence will be filled with a lifetime of loving memories.
Terry was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Bobby Redfern. He is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Geneva Kelley Redfern of Gibson; daughters, Tammy Leonard (David) of Stapleton, Tonya Williams (Lamar) of Stapleton; grandchildren, Chad Beggs (Skyla), Cecily Gunby (Aaron), Emily Williams, Jackson Williams, Hannah Williams, Claire Williams; one great grandson, Logan Gunby; sister, Carol Downs (Thomas) of Mitchell; and several nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends at Taylor Funeral Home Gibson from 6:00PM until 8:00PM Friday, August 20, 2021.
In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully asks that memorial contributions be made to the Glascock County Concerned Citizens for Cancer Committee, c/o Gwen Couch, 412 Logue Avenue, Gibson, Georgia 30810.
