Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and funeral services of Mrs. Sonja Burgamy of Gibson, 81, who died on Friday, November 19, 2022, at Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center.


Funeral services will be held in the Gibson Church of God at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, November 22, 2022, with Rev. Tommy Harwell and Rev. Josh Carswell officiating. Burial will follow in the Church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Aleks Shepherd, Jay Woods, Stephen Woods,  and Bobby Williams.

Mrs. Burgamy was a native and lifelong resident of Gibson.  She was a daughter of Emory Irby and Hazel Peebles Irby.  She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in nursing from Sandersville Nursing School and was an LPN at Thomson Manor and a member of and pianist for Gibson Church of God for many years. 

She was predeceased in death by her parents and is survived by her son Phillip Arrington of Atlanta, a daughter Gina Baker (Jeff) of Gibson, sister Dianne Woods (Otis) of Lawrenceville, grandchildren Tiffany Sleister of Gibson, Elizabeth Shepherd (Aleks) of Gibson, Great grandchildren Serenity Davis of Greenwood, SC, Peyton Allen of Gibson, Riley Allen of Gibson, and Hazel Shepherd of Gibson.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
