Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and funeral services of Mrs. Rita P. Cheeks, age 72 of Wadley who died Saturday morning, June 1, 2019 in the University Hospital Augusta.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday June 5, in the Louisville United Methodist Church with Mr. Joe Cheeks & Rev. Joe Bedgood officiating. Burial will follow in the Davisboro City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Willis McKenzie, Tom Smith, Brandon Josey, Rick Schultz, Stone Logan & Nathan Rogers.
A native of Pringle, GA., Rita was a 1964 graduate of Wadley high school and retired after many years of service as a seamstress from the Wadley shirt factory. Rita was a member of Moxley Baptist Church and the Kraft Club. She enjoyed pin working, quilting and crocheting. She was an avid bird watcher, loved flowers and gardening. She also loved to read and was a faithful visitor to Wal-Mart. She also enjoyed collecting angel figurines. She was very family ordinated and loved her family tremendously.
Mrs. Cheeks was preceded in death by her father John Manning, mother Ouida K. Manning, brother William Patton & is survived by, her husband of 55 years to whom she was married on June 4, 1964 Hubert L. Cheeks, daughters & sons-in-law, Brenda & Pete Southerland of Swainsboro, Rachel & Chuck Stevens of Bartow, sisters, Darlene & Jerry White of Covington, Vicky & Jerry McDonald of Wrens, 5 grandchildren, 7 great grandchildren several nieces & nephews.
The Cheeks family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday June 3, at the funeral home.
