Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and funeral services of Mrs. Rendia Wells Kent, 70, of Gibson who died Tuesday, October 31, 2023, in Augusta
Funeral services will be on Saturday, November 4, at 2:00 pm at Sheppard Memorial Chapel at Taylor Funeral Home with Rev. David Kitchens officiating. Pallbearers will be Derrell Usry, Timmy Usry, Dean Reese, Lee Lewis, Tyler Cummings, and Russ Usry. Burial will follow in the Euphrates Church Cemetery in Edgehill.
Rendia, a native of Gibson, was a daughter of Willie B. Wells and Adelle Sammons Wells. She was the last survivor of the 1955 polio outbreak in Glascock County and lived on to become a missionary and serve in Scotland and the Bahamas.
She is predeceased by her parents, brothers John Willie Wells, George Wells, Lewis Wells, and James Wells, sisters Katie Overstreet, Mary Usry-Kitchens, Doris Marsh, and Florrie Arrington, and a half-brother Donald Turner, she is survived by her husband Mark Olin Kent, a daughter Rebekkah Heidi Kent of Gibson, brother in law Judson Arrington of Twin Falls, Idaho, Sister in law Lucinda (Roy) Brookins of Beaufort, SC, Mother in law Sarah Kent of Gibson, Dear friends Tammy (Freddy) Turner of Gibson and Kay (Jacky) Downs of Mitchell, close friend and ex-husband Phillip Walker of Dahlonega and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service on Saturday, November 4 at the funeral home.
