Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and funeral services of Mrs. Polly Ann Brassell age 91 of Birmingham, Alabama, formerly of Gibson who died Sunday October 21, 2023.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, October 28, in the Sheppard Memorial Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Gibson. Burial will follow in the Mt. Nebo Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brian Beavers, Nic Hale, James Moore, Scott Powell, James Hoeferlin and Karl Hoeferlin.
A native of Gibson, Mrs. Brassell was one of seven children of William Edward Thomas Harrell and Alma May Redfern Harrell. She will be remembered as kind, loving and generous to everyone, especially her family. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Indian Springs, Alabama. Polly loved spending time in her garden, but her favorite pastime was spending time with her family.
Polly was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Catherine Harrell, Susie Johnson, Ruby Dunham, Mary Harrell, and Sarah Humphreys, brothers Elijah Harrell, and William Harrell. She is survived by her daughters Kay (Jimmy) Hotchkiss of Alabaster, AL, Roseanna Cabaniss of Helena, AL, Peggy (James) Hoeferlin of Harrisburg, NC, Cynthia (Scott) Powell of Pelham, AL, and Beverly Beavers of Alabaster, AL, grandchildren Andrew Hotchkiss of Alabaster, AL, Keri (James) Moore of Alabaster, AL, Stephanie (William Bailey) Cabaniss of Helena, AL, Anthony (Kristen) Cabaniss, Jr of San Jose, CA,
Karl (Lindsey) Hoeferlin of Harrisburg, NC, Alexis Hoeferlin of Richmond, VA, Zachary (Michelle Dowda) Powell of Alabaster, AL, Brian (Chrissy) Beavers, Jr. of Harpersville, AL, Bethany (Nic) Hale of Alabaster, AL, 9 great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and a host of friends.
The Brassell family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Saturday.
