Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death of Mrs. Maxine Sheppard Saunders, age 77 of Highway 1 North Louisville who died Monday March 9, 2021 at her residence.
Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Thursday, March 11, 2021 in the Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home Louisville with Pastor Richard Josey officiating. Burial will follow at Louisville City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lance Poole, Michael Brown, Andy Austin, David Josey, Alan Wasden, and Mark Brown. Because of the family’s concern for public health and safety during this pandemic, the family requests that social distancing and other safety precautions be followed. A native of Jefferson County, Maxine was the only child of the late Joseph Timothy (Buddy) Sheppard, and the late Reba Bridges Sheppard. She graduated from Louisville Academy and Georgia Southern University. She was a member of Freedom Fellowship Church for over 20 years. Maxine enjoyed antiquing, going to yard sales, cleaning house, cooking, and spending time with friends and family. She also enjoyed listening to old hymns, and southern gospel music.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, and survived by her loving husband of 56 years, Wayne Hugh Saunders, Sr., son, Wayne Hugh (Hubie) Saunders, Jr. (Suzanne), daughter, Shanna M. Hamond (William), grandchildren, Julie Amerson (Bryce), Kayla Hammond, Becca Holdeman (Anthony), Chad Hammond, Chase Hammond, Jalyn Hammond, great grandchildren, Kylie Ray Garrett, Drake Garrett, Peyton Grace Amerson, and Rylee Kate Amerson.
Visitation will be held Thursday, March 11, 2021 1:00PM until 2:00PM at the funeral home prior to services.
