Mason Clements Obituary

Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and funeral services of Mr. Carter Clements, age 67, of Chamblee, GA., formerly of Augusta, who died Friday morning September 3, 2021, in the Seasons Hospice in Cumming, Georgia.

Graveside services will be held 10:00 AM Monday, September 6, 2021, in the Louisville City Cemetery with Rev. Jonathan Melchior officiating. Service can be viewed on the Taylor Funeral Home website at www.taylorfhlouisville.com.  Pallbearers will be Mason Clements, Nat Dye, Sonny Bowles, Shane Miles, Johnny Richards, and Roger Chesnut.

Because of the family’s respect and concern for public health and safety during this COVID-19 pandemic, the family requests that social distancing and other safety precautions be followed. The wearing of face masks is strongly encouraged during any gathering.

A native of Augusta, Carter was a son of the late Mason Carter Clements and Fay Joyner Clements. Carter attended Westside High School in Augusta, and Middle Georgia College in Cochran. He was an avid music lover, car and motorcycle enthusiast and had a soft side for bird watching. He was collector of vinyl albums, fountain pens & custom weaponry. Carter also loved golf. He started playing golf at a young age and continued playing in high school and college. He was known for his quick wit, kind spirit and always being such a gentleman. He was such a people person and never met a stranger. Carter loved traditions - Birthday’s, Valentine’s Day all other holidays were celebrated every year in the same way, with the same meal and that’s how he liked it. It wasn’t until later in life that he opened up to a few small “tweaks” in the menu or letting his daughter or grandson do the grilling.

Carter had a deep love for his family. He and his wife Donna were married for 45 years. They have 2 daughters, Bonnie Leigh, and Katherine Carter, whom he cherished. Carter and Donna also have 2 grandsons and the mention of those 2 boys brought pure joy to his face. He loved spending intentional, quality time with them. He always made sure it was special and it was for just them.

Carter was preceded in death by his father, Mason Carter Clements, Sr., maternal grandparents, Rev. & Mrs. Bert Joyner, paternal grandparents, James Irwin (Annie Mae) Clements, and survived by his loving wife of 45 years, Donna Clements of Atlanta, daughters, Katherine Clements of Atlanta, Bonnie Sapp of Atlanta, grandsons, Gavin Sapp of Atlanta, Liam Clements of Atlanta, mother, Fay Clements of Augusta, sister, Beverly (Nat) Dye of Augusta, brother, Bert (Erin) Clements of Dallas, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.
