Mary Gaston Obituary

Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the services of Mrs. Mary Lois Gaston, age 89, of Walden Brett Road in Wadley who died Friday morning, September 30.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm, Tuesday, October 4, in the Moxley United Methodist Church with Rev. David Boggs and Rev. Charles Cravey officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot in the Wadley City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Greg Gaston, Joe Cheeks, Tim Williams, Charles Hendrix, Cameron Clark, Chip Evans, and Randy Brett

A native and lifelong resident of Wadley, Mrs. Gaston was the daughter of George Marvin Brett and Lou Ella Edenfield. She was graduate of Wadley High School and received a business degree from the Women’s College of Georgia in Milledgeville. She retired after more than 20 years of service with the Jefferson County Board of Education. She was a member of the Jefferson County Retired Educator’s, where she served as Secretary/Treasurer.  Mary Lois was a longtime member of the Moxley United Methodist Church where for many years she served as Secretary/Treasurer.

Mrs. Gaston was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, Mr. Roy Gaston, her parents and 2 brothers Danny Brett and Buddy Brett.  She is survived by daughters Deborah G. Pate of Gibson, Joan G. Barsh of Gibson, Karen G. Sheppard (Tommy) of Avera and Ann G. Baker (Billy) of Evans, sister, Rose Grabowskii (Phillip) of North Augusta, sister-in-law Jane Brett, of Wadley, 9 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

Visitation with the family will be held from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm, Tuesday, October 4, 2022, in the Moxley United Methodist Church prior to the services.

The Family request those desiring to make memorial in lieu of flowers to the Moxley United Methodist Church or a charity of their choice.

The Gaston family may be contacted at the residence 1175 Walden Brett Road in Wadley.
