Mary Armistead Obituary

Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and funeral services of Mrs. Mary Anne Armistead age 82 of Louisville who died Saturday, April 1, 2023, at her home.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 8, at 2:00 pm at the Louisville United Methodist Church, with Rev. Dan Underwood and Rev. Garland Hullender officiating. Pallbearers will be Daniel Sasser, Alan Sasser, Ben Pickering, Douglas Bradley, Todd Armistead, and David Armistead. Honorary pallbearers will be the Louisville Methodist Church Choir.

Mrs. Armistead was born in Folkston, Georgia the daughter of Ben Scott Johnson and Gertrude Johnson. She was a long-time faithful member of the Louisville United Methodist Church where she sang in the choir. She was a homemaker, avid crafter, reader, and gardener but her favorite pastime was spending time with her family.

Mrs. Armistead was preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 52 years Tom Armistead she is survived by daughters Amy (Mike) Sasser of Waynesboro and Cara (Michael) Cobb of Louisville; grandsons, Daniel (Emily) Sasser and Alan Sasser of Waynesboro; granddaughters, Allison (Ben) Pickering of Oxford, MS., and Sydney (Douglas) Bradley of Savannah; great grandchildren, Halle Sasser, Jack Sasser, Anna Sasser, and Brady Sasser all of Waynesboro. Brother-in-law Frank Armistead and his wife Shirley of Cumming, several nieces, nephews and a host of friends.

The family would also like to extend a special thank you to her caregivers Charlotte McBride, Gail Boyd, June Duggan and Liza Gross, along with Dr. Bonnie Jenkins and St. Joseph Hospice.

The family will receive friends Saturday, April 8, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm prior to the service in the church.

The family requests in lieu of flowers donations may be made to Louisville United Methodist Church.

Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Care of Louisville is in charge of arrangements.
