Martha Dukes Norris

Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and funeral services as a courtesy for the family of Mrs. Martha Dukes Norris, age 90, of Wadley passed away Wednesday, July 22, 2020 following an extended illness.  A family only funeral service will be held at Bethesda Primitive Baptist Church in Wadley with burial in the Church Cemetery.  Elder Kenneth Brantley, Elder Lee Price and Elder Shannon Whipp will officiate. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great grandsons, Robert Price, William Price, Benjamin Price, Jason Whipp, Nathanael Whipp and Jeremiah Whipp.  

Mrs. Norris was a native and lifelong resident of Wadley, the daughter of the late Elisha Dukes Sr. and the late Mary Lou Watkins Dukes.  She spent much of her life alongside her husband Robert as a homemaker and companion on their farm.  Mrs. Norris was a proud seamstress formerly working for the Wadley Shirt Factory.  She was a faithful member of Bethesda Primitive Baptist Church.  Mrs. Norris possessed a servant’s heart and after the passing of her husband took on the role of caregiver for numerous family and friends. She is predeceased by her husband of 39 years, Robert Gilead Norris.  

Survivors include her daughters, Jeanette N. Johnikin of Columbia TN., Catherine N. Price and her husband Lee of Thomaston and Jane N. McDaniel of Vidette; grandchildren, Robin J. Whipp, Robert D. Price, William H. Price, Benjamin D. Price, April McDaniel and Jennifer McDaniel; five great grandchildren and her brother, Eugene T. Dukes and his wife Bessie of Perry. 

Donations may be made to the donor’s church in memory of Mrs. Norris.
