Judy H. Bussell

Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and funeral services of Mrs. Judy H. Bussell age 92 of Louisville who died Monday, June 19, 2023, at Memorial Hospital, Savannah, Georgia.  A graveside service will be held on Saturday, June 24, 2023, at 1:00 pm in Jefferson County Memorial Gardens in Louisville with Reverend Jonathan Melchior officiating.  Pallbearers will be Ronnie Livingston, Sonny Bowles, Zachary Smith, Cody Howell, David Williams, Tony Williams, and Neal Livingston.

Judy was a lifelong resident of Jefferson County except for the last 2 years of her life spent in Savannah near her daughter.  She was the daughter of the late Julian Franklin Hartley and Hattie Lou Brown Hartley.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church, Louisville where she taught children’s Sunday school for 25 years, Baptist Training Union and a member of the Women’s Missionary Union.

She enjoyed working for the Department of Agriculture (Agricultural Stabilization Conservation Service) for 34 years until retirement.  She was an avid fisherwoman, voracious reader, enjoyed traveling and had a servant’s heart.

She was predeceased by her loving husband Bennie Julian Bussell, brother Frankie Hartley (Bubba) and sweet friend and companion Fred Pennington.  Survivors include her daughter and son in law Catherine (Cathy) and Corky Smith of Savannah and special nieces Debbie Hartley Shelton of Bartow and Lisa Hartley Howell of Cumming, also beloved nieces and nephews Mary Exer Shurling, Ellen Boatright, Tony Williams, David Williams, Edward Williams, Bobby Williams, Bennie Bussell and Henry Bussell.

The family will receive friends following the services Saturday at the cemetery.
