Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and funeral services of Mr. James Stephens Sr, age 73 of Gibson who died Wednesday evening, February 3, 2021 in the Gibson Health and Rehab.
Graveside services will be held 3:00PM Sunday, February 7, 2021 in the Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery with Rev. Tommy Harwell officiating. Because of the family’s concern for public health and safety during this pandemic, the family requests that social distancing and other safety precautions be followed. A native of Augusta, James was the son of the late Ernest Lee Stephens and Mary Pruitt Stephens. He was a handyman and considered a jack of all trades. When James was not working, he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family.
James was preceded in death by his parents, wife Dorothy Jean Stephens and survived by his sons, James Stephens (Kristie) of Gibson, Scott Stephens of Gibson, brother, Larry Stephens of Augusta, grandchildren, Brooke Stephens of Portland, OR., Morgan Reid (Malik) of Rutledge, Troy Stephens of Bamberg, SC., Dalton Stephens of Bamberg, SC., Madison Moore of Walterboro, SC., Lauren Moore of Hardeeville, SC., 4 great-grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and friends.
Visitation will be held Sunday, February 7, 2021 from 1:00PM until 2:30PM at the funeral home prior to services.
