Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death of Mrs. Geraldine Martin, age 94, of Louisville who died Sunday morning November 8, 2020 in the Emanuel Nursing Home in Swainsboro.
Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday November 11, 2020 in the Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home Louisville with Rev. Larry Montgomery & Rev. Jonathan Melchior officiating. Services may be viewed at www.taylorfhlouisville.com. Burial will follow in the Louisville City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chris Marsh, Jon Tam, Jason Henderson, Shawn Henderson, Michael Thigpen, John Caran, Bubba Bargeron, William Hadden, Frank Ethridge, Kenny Martin & Eddie Martin.
Because of the family’s concern for public health and safety during this pandemic, the family requests that social distancing, masks are required, and other safety precautions be followed.
A native of Soperton, Geraldine was a daughter of the late Ira Von Thigpen and Edith Idell Hall Thigpen. She retired from Jefferson Hospital after several years serving as a Nurse. She was a member of Louisville First Baptist Church since 1955, the pink ladies of Jefferson Hospital. She was a Girl Scout Leader, a founding member of the Louisville food pantry, and was a past member of the Eastern Star.
Mrs. Martin was preceded in death by her parents, husband Otis Martin, brothers, Ira Thigpen, Oswald Thigpen and Pascal Thigpen sister, Yuvawn Tapley and is survived by son, Randy Von Martin (Phyllis) of Thomson, Ga, daughter Jan Marsh (Terrell) of Kathleen, Ga, sister, Evelyn Jennings, 4 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, special friends Mary Caran & Ruth Bargeron several nieces, nephews and cousins.
