Donald "Don" Hodges Obituary

Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and services of Mr. Donald Hodges, age 80 of Moxley Bartow Road in Moxley, who died, Monday evening December 28, 2020 in the University Hospital Summerville in Augusta.

Graveside services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday, January 2, 2021 in the Moxley United Methodist Church Cemetery with Rev. David Boggs officiating and Masonic rights. Because of the family’s concern for public health and safety during this pandemic, the family requests that social distancing and other safety precautions be followed. The wearing of face masks is encouraged. Don was born August 10, 1940 in Statesboro to the late William Hodges, and Fannie Williams Hodges. He graduated from Southwest Tech as a machinist. He was the owner and operator of Hodges Machine Shop in Moxley for 31 years. He was a faithful member of Moxley United Methodist Church for over 58 years. Don was a master Mason for over 23 years and member of Stone Wall Lodge #98 F&AM in Louisville where he had served as a past Worshipful Master in 2009 and was treasurer for many years. He was a Shriner and member of the Alee Shrine Temple in Savannah and the Shrine Club in Thomson. He was a long-time member of the Wadley Lions Club and most recently the Louisville Lions Club. He was a member of the Ingles Coffee Club, and the Jefferson Cattleman’s Association. He loved to farm but his greatest joy was spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 55 years Shirley Belcher Hodges, brother, Eugene Hodges, and survived by, sons, Clay Hodges (Tonya) of Moxley, Kelvin Hodges (Wanda) of Moxley, Fiancé, Betty Cooper, of Louisville, brothers, Wendell Hodges (Phyllis), Alvin Hodges (Sharon), sisters, Vivian Colson, Wynell Hampton (Hubert), Ann Seals (James), Joyce Evans, Glennis Bland, brother in law, Dewey and Vicki Belcher, grandchildren, Chase Hodges (Sarah), Kristen Henney (Michael), Kayla Hodges, Phillip Hodges, great grandchildren, Emilia Hodges, Scarlett Henney, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
