Obituary

Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and services of Denise Noelle Ward of Louisville, Georgia, formally of Woburn, Massachusetts, passed away at age 65 on August 20, 2023, at her home surrounded by family.

Denise’s career brought her throughout the country starting in Boston, Massachusetts, at the Boston Stock Exchange and Boston Jewelers, EG&G of Wakefield and Wellesley, Massachusetts and Hanscom Air Force Base in Bedford, Massachusetts.  When a position at NASA presented itself, Denise and her husband, Richard, launched into the opportunity.  Following her NASA experience, Denise then worked at Fort Gordon where she retired from a Cyber Security position.

Aside from enjoying her grandchildren, Denise enjoyed hosting various holiday gathering at her historic residence in Louisville, Georgia.  Denise’s other interests were in reading, especially the works of Stephen King, and traveling up and down the east coast.  Yard sales were her weakness where she assembled an eclectic collection of items that complimented the design of the residence.

Denise is survived by her loving partner and husband for 30 years, Richard Schickling, of Louisville, daughter Nicole Churchill of Arlington, Virginia, stepson Matthew Schickling and his wife Nicole of Northboro, Massachusetts.  She was a loving grandmother of Mallorie Fortin, Tanner Churchill and Evelyn Schickling.  She also leaves behind her brother, Robert Ward and his wife Kathryn of Portsmouth, Rhode Island and her sister, Karen Trefry and her husband Daniel of Haverhill, Massachusetts.  Denise was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Ward and Irene Jurewicz Ward.

A Memorial Gathering will be held at 6:00 to 8:00 pm Thursday evening at Taylor Funeral Home Louisville.
