Clarence Reese, Jr. Obituary

Taylor funeral home of Gibson announces the death and funeral service of Mr. Clarence Reese, Jr., age 81, 0f Gibson who died Friday November 26, 2021, in the University Hospital.

Mr. Reese was one of 10 children born to the late Clarence Reese, Sr. and Ruth Dixon Reese. He was a lifelong resident of Glascock County. He worked at Stapleton Garment Company for 38 years and was a supervisor over the shipping department for many of those years. He worked at Thomson Oak Flooring for 8 years. Mr. Reese was retired and liked to garden and grow plants. He has been a member of Jordan Chapel Church of God since 2003. He was very active in the upkeep of the church and grounds until recent years due to his failing health. He was always involved in building projects at the church.

Mr. Reese was preceded in death by his parents, a brother-Thomas Reese, sisters- Ruby Sorrows, Zelma Williford, Margie Williford, and Joanne Griswell. Survivors include his wife of 38 years- Mary Ann McGahee Marsh Reese; children: June Cooper (Ricky) of Gibson, Jenny Bales of Evans, Janice Johnson (Allan) of Warren County, and Marie Bales of Gibson; stepdaughters- Ann Cantrell (Danny) of Mitchell and Nancy Hardin (Steve) of Mitchell; siblings: Beulah Proctor, Hazel Kelley (Ralph), Betty Jean Kelly, and Jamie Reese. He had 14 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, lots of nieces and nephews, very special friends- Frank Youngblood and his pastor, Brother David O. Jones, and “his boy”- Chance Fain.

The family will receive guests at the residence at 1008 JW Braswell Rd in Gibson and at the home of June and Ricky Cooper at 2242 Bastonville Rd in Gibson, Georgia. Visitation will be held at Taylor Funeral Home in Gibson on Sunday, November 28 from 3:00-5:00 pm. Services will be held on Monday, November 29 at 2:00 at Jordan Chapel Church of God in Edgehill, officiated by Brother David O. Jones and Dr. Randall Whitaker. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.        

Pallbearers will be: Matthew Johnson, Richard Cooper, Curt McGahee, Duke Whitfield, Wesley Hardin, Kevin Fain, and Aldon Cantrell.

Memorial donations can be made to the Jordan Chapel Church of God Cemetery Fund by mail at 6797 Hwy 171 South Gibson, GA 30810.
