Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and funeral services of Mr. James Charles Poole age 93 of Hwy 171 North Louisville, who passed away at home on February 13, 2023, after a long fulfilling life.
A funeral service to celebrate his life will be held Friday, February 17, 2023, at 11:00 am in the Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Louisville with Rev. Edward Salter and Mr. Jerry Taylor officiating. Pallbearers will be Grayland Poole, David Weathers, Cliff Hess, Heath Williams, and Jace Poole. Honorary pallbearers will be Wayne Storey and Johnny Hadden. Burial will follow in the Louisville City Cemetery.
Mr. Poole was born in Louisville and was the son of James “Charlie” Poole Sr. and Mary Morris Poole and was a lifelong resident of Louisville. He loved Louisville and all its people. He was a mechanic by trade and had owned his own automotive repair shop. He loved woodworking, fishing, gardening, and helping and baking for his friends and family and having breakfast with his friends. He loved his family and enjoyed every minute spent with them. Mr. Poole was a Christian, over the years was previously active in several Louisville area churches including the Nazarene and Louisville Methodist. During his early adult life, he lived and worked in the Augusta, Georgia area and was active at Pineview Baptist Church.
He is predeceased by his parents, his wife Linda Storey Poole, his brother Otis Ashmore Poole, and sisters Ester Florene Poole and Mary Frances Poole Williams. He is survived by his son Grayland James Poole (Melanie) and his daughter Charlene Poole Weathers (David), stepsons Edward Salter (Teresa) and Otis Holt, Jr., grandchildren Clifford Charles Hess (Amberle), Soleil Poole Smith (Jonathan), Rylan Tucker Poole (Aimee), Jace Alexander Poole, Sky Alyssa Poole, step grandchildren Phillip Salter, Macy Salter and Mary Ashton Salter, great grandchildren Eric Conrad Hess, Guinevere Grace Hess, Ember Smith, Colton Smith, step great grandchildren Hunter Salter, River and Riley Salter and Ryder Salter and many cousins, nieces and nephews too numerous to name.
A visitation with friends and family will be held Thursday, February 16, at 6:00 pm at the funeral home.
The family requests in lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Louisville Methodist Church.
