Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and funeral services for Mr. James Robert "Bobby" Jones, age 90, who embraced the hand of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and went to his eternal home on Wednesday, April 5, 2023. Born March 17, 1933, Bobby was the son of Edgar and Ruby Jones. A lifelong resident of Glascock County, he served the community through the Gibson Service Station for 40 years as well as working side by side with his wife Daisy to run Daisy's Diner for 15 years.
Bobby was predeceased by his parents, his brothers Billy Jones and Sammy Jones. He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Daisy Usry Jones, son William Robert "Bob" Jones of Stapleton, daughter Laura Jones Redfern (Michael) of Edgehill; stepson Anthony Griswell (Mary) of Mitchell, grandchildren Glenn Thomas (Michelle) of Gibson; Megan Kitchens (Abe) of Sandersville; David Jones of NC; Johna Castro (Freddy) of Alpharetta and Mike Redfern of Edgehill, and several great grandchildren, nieces & nephews.
Bobby graduated from Glascock County High school in 1950. He was an Army veteran who served in the Korean War, a business owner, a master gardener, and a Christian who demonstrated his faith in his daily life. He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.
Funeral services with be held at Trinity Independent Church, Mitchell, on Sunday, April 9, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. with Rev. Mary Griswell officiating. Pallbearers are Amon Sexton, Larry Mobley, Abe Kitchens, Freddy Castro, Brad Usry, Rick Hutcheson, Jerry Hutcheson, Dean Reese, and Troy Hadden. A visitation will be held at Taylor Funeral Home, Gibson, Saturday, April 8, 2023, from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Mr. Jones will also be available for viewing one hour prior to the funeral service at the Church.
