Barbara Johnson

Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and funeral services of Mrs. Barbara English Johnson, age 82 of Mitchell who died Wednesday November 27, 2019.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 pm Sunday December 1, 2019 in the Friendship Baptist Church of Mitchell, Georgia, with Rev. Tommy Harwell officiating. Burial will follow in church cemetery. Pallbearers will be Steve Johnson, Stan Johnson, Mark Johnson, Wayne Johnson, Bobby Barns, Michael Johnson and Nicholas Salisbury. Honorary pallbearers will be Deacons of Friendship Baptist Church

A native of Winter Harbor, IL Mrs. Johnson was the daughter of the late Clayton and Remella English. She was a graduate of Richmond Academy and she retired after many years of service as a clerk from United States Postal Service. She was a long time member of Friendship Baptist Church where she was a Sunday school teacher and taught bible school for many years.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Boze Johnson Jr, son, Barry Johnson, sister, Sarah Sue Barnes and a brother, Dorland E. English and is survived by daughters and sons in law Brenda and John Parsons of Appling and Beverly and Rick Griswold of Ambrose, son, Ben Johnson of Ambrose, 5 grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorials be made directly to Taylor funeral home, 57 College Place Gibson, Georgia 30810.

The Johnson family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service Sunday at the church
