Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death of Zennie Pearl Martin, aged 80, who went to be with her God and Savior, Jesus Christ on Thursday November 3, 2022.

Graveside inurnment services will be held Monday, November 7, 2022 at 2 pm

in the Wadley City Cemetery with Rev. John Maynard officiating. The family will receive friends following the services.

She was a native of Jefferson County but spent the majority of her life in Miami, Florida.  Zennie had moved back to the land of her birth recently.  Her heart and life were devoted to her Lord, Jesus Christ.  Our sadness over her loss is overshadowed by the joy she has in going home to heaven, to gaze into the beautiful face of her Lord and to serve Him for eternity.

Zennie was a Local President for the United Brick and Glass Workers Union for many years before being appointed as a corporate (and only female) Vice President for the AFL-CIO; one of the largest unions in the nation.  In that capacity she worked as an organizer and executive of the union for many years.  She was known to work tirelessly for the betterment of her union members.  She was a member of Calvary Chapel in Ft. Lauderdale, FL and attended Resurrection Church in Louisville after returning home.

Her parents were the late John Henry Martin, Sr, and the late Myrtice Bedgood Martin, both of Jefferson County.  Her older brother, John Henry Martin, Jr, was deceased in 1982.

She is survived by her siblings:  Joe Martin, Davisboro, GA, Ann Ware (Gary), Wadley, GA; Faye Stavely (Johnny), Wadley, GA; Jack Martin, Louisville, GA; and Troy Martin, Louisville, GA.  A host of nieces and nephews will sorely miss Aunt Sissy.  Friends abounded with her due to her engaging smile and the ability to instantly connect with those she met.

Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Care of Louisville is in charge of arrangements.
