Taylor funeral home of Louisville announces the death and funeral services of Mr. William Thomas Stevens, age 88 of Wadley who died Wednesday May 1, 2024.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday May 4, 2024, in the Old Bethel Baptist Church in Bartow with Rev. Larry Fincher officiating. Burial will follow in the Wadley City Cemetery. Men honored to serve as Pallbearers are WP Brown, Robert Huff, Frank Etheridge, Barry Wren, Gene Oglesby, and Adam Oglesby.
William was a native of Jefferson County, a son of the late Alex Thomas Stevens and Dorothy Rheney Stevens. He was a graduate of Wadley High School and attended ABAC in Tifton. He retired from Thermo King after more than 30 years in the Machine Shop rising to Supervisor. William was a faithful member for over 25 years of Old Bethel Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon since June of 2005, and was a member of the Ingles Coffie Club.
Mr. Stevens was preceded in death by his parents, two wife's Hazel Spann Stevens and Joyce Faglier Stevens and is survived by his sister, June Stevens Durden of Grovetown, niece, Kimberly Durden Tubbs of Cleveland, Tennessee, stepson, Gene Stevens (Dawn) of Ooltewah, Tennessee, and stepdaughter, Pamela Windley (Bill) of North Augusta, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family at Old Bethel Baptist Church.
Family request those desiring to make memorials in lieu of flowers to Old Bethal Baptist Church, 1275 Old Bethel Church Road Bartow, GA 30413 or to the Moxley Methodist Church, 1095 Charles Smith Road Wadley, GA 30477.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 to 2:00 PM Saturday prior to the services at the church.
