Mr. William Albert Rivers, age 68, of 78 W. Main Street Gibson, Georgia died Thursday morning in University Hospital in Augusta.
Graveside service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, October 6, 2013 in the Mitchell Methodist Church cemetery with Rev. Ralph Story officiating.
Mr. Rivers was a native of Augusta, but had lived in Gibson for several years. He graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Arts in Industrial Psychology. He retired after more than 20 years of service as a personnel manager with Siemens and J. P. Stevens.
Mr. Rivers was preceded in death by his parents, L. R. Rivers & Annie Van Gibson Rivers; 2 brothers; Lee Rymer Rivers and Barry Gibson Rivers and is survived by fiancé, Nancy Kent of Gibson; niece, Shelby Rivers of Warrenton; aunt, Mary Jewell Cutchens of Macon; uncle, George Wright Gibson of Agricola; cousins, Jim Rivers of Thomson, Edsel Cutchens, Jr. of Macon, Elbert Rivers of Atlanta, Kay (English) Marbert of North Carolina, Jan (English) Hall of LaGrange; and sister-in-law, Cindy Rivers of Warrenton.
If so desired, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Neuro/Stroke ICU Unit of University Hospital.
The Rivers family will receive friends in the Mitchell Methodist Church fellowship hall following the service on Sunday.
