Burial will follow in the Louisville City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Chad McDowell, Bo Benton, Jamie Herrin, Tracy Faglier, Quinton Farrer, and Jerry Howell. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
A native of Louisville, Wendell was born January 7, 1967, the son of Albert Russell Manning and the late Linda Faglier Manning. He was a 1985 graduate of Louisville High School and later earned a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Georgia Southern University. Wendell devoted his professional life to advocating for mental health awareness and supporting others, serving as a counselor throughout Louisville and surrounding counties. Known for his wisdom and compassion, family and friends often sought his advice. In his later years, Wendell enjoyed sharing uplifting messages on Facebook to encourage and brighten the days of others.
Wendell was deeply involved in the youth ministry during his early years at Louisville First Baptist Church and later became a member under the leadership of Bill Smith, where his love of singing truly flourished. Music was one of the many ways Wendell shared his heart, and his beautiful voice brought comfort and joy to those around him. One of the most treasured memories for his family was his heartfelt performance at his sister’s wedding, a moment that will be forever cherished.
Wendell also found joy in working in his yard and gardening, especially tending to his favorite yellow roses. He proudly carried on a natural green thumb inherited from his Aunt Anne. One of his greatest passions was sharing good food and fellowship. Rarely did Wendell turn down a meal with loved ones, and second helpings—or even a third plate—were simply part of who he was.
Wendell was preceded in death by his beloved mother, Linda Faglier Manning; his paternal grandparents, Luther and Louise Manning; and his maternal grandparents, E.C. and Emma Faglier.
He is survived by his father, Albert Russell Manning; his sister and brother-in-law, Angela Brooke and Chad McDowell; his nephew, Seth M. McDowell; and his nieces, Emma C. McDowell and Mallory C. McDowell, all of Louisville.
