Gibson

We are deeply saddened by the passing of Thelma Estelle Stephenson Ellis, who departed this life at 98 years young. Thelma began her journey on October 29, 1927, and her spirit returned to her Lord on November 11, 2025. As the beloved matriarch of our family, she was the seed from which multiple generations grew, each rooted in the strength, wisdom, and tough love she offered so freely. She loved family gatherings, puzzles, gardening and any activity that allowed her to serve others. She once wrote that "Love is the only Flower that grows and blossoms without the aid of seasons". Thelma never failed to be there for those she loved.

Shaped by a humble upbringing, a strong sense of integrity and a work ethic based on her Christian faith, she never stressed the "small stuff" and taught those around her to focus on what truly mattered. Her unwavering faith in God and His mercy allowed her to thrive in every environment and season of life. Thelma was cherished not only by family but by friends from all walks of life and faiths, each touched by her big presence despite her short stature. Her inner strength was undeniable—feisty, determined, and unshakable, carrying her through life’s challenges with resilience and grace.

While we mourn her passing, we know that when a loved one becomes a memory, their memory becomes a treasure. We invite all who knew her to celebrate her remarkable life, her joy, her love and the countless moments she shared with us. Her legacy of courage, devotion, and indomitable spirit will continue to inspire and live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.

Thelma's passing was preceded by her parents, Estelle and Lancelot, brothers James and Lancelot Jr., and a sister Gwendolyn. She leaves to remember her a sister Eva Betty, a brother Andrew Kenneth, a sister-in-law Vondelle, two daughters, Ruby Veronica and Adalia Theresa, beloved nieces, nephews and an abundance of grandchildren, great grandchildren and extended family. God blessed Thelma to see four generations flourish beyond her own and this host of family and friends who will always love their Mom, Grandma, Grandma #2, Grandma #3, Aunt, Great-aunt, Cousin and Friend. She Loved them all!

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday November 17, 2025 in the Sheppard Memorial Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Gibson with Elder, Henry Lewis, Jr., officiating.
