Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and funeral services of Mrs. Thelma Haywood  Dixon, age 95 of West Main Street, Gibson, Georgia, who died Tuesday morning, January 6, 2015 in the Gibson Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, January 9, at Fellowship Baptist Church in Gibson, with Mrs. Dixon being placed in the church at 1:00 PM. Rev. Tommy Harwell and Rev. Ronnie Dixon will officiate. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Chris Kight, David Kight, Kevin Kight, Kenneth Daniel, Matt Swint and Bobby Williams.

A native of Glascock County, Mrs. Dixon was a daughter of the late Henry Thomas and Kate Lamb Haywood. She worked at Stapleton Garment Factory for many years and sang in the choir at Fellowship Baptist Church, where she was the oldest member.

Mrs. Dixon was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Joe Lewis Dixon, Sr. and 9 siblings and is survived by daughter; Joann Dixon Kight (Bobby) of N. Augusta, SC, sons; Thomas Lewis Dixon (Donna) of Douglas, GA, and Joe Lewis Dixon, Jr. (Mariann) of Gibson, GA, grandchildren; Kevin Kight, David Kight, Amanda Kight, Christopher Kight, Katie Swint and Haley Chauncey, and 7 great grandchildren.

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, January 8, at the funeral home.

If so desired, memorials may be made to the Fellowship Baptist Church Cemetery Fund or to the church at 1745 Highway 171 South, Gibson, GA 30810.
