Sonny Saunders

Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and funeral services of Mr. Ferney Oliver "Sonny" Saunders, Jr., age 83 of River Road Wadley who died Saturday morning May 25, 2024, at his home.

Private graveside services will be held in the Georgia Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Milledgeville.

Sonny was born August 22, 1940, in Sandersville, a son of the late Ferney Oliver "Sunny" Saunders, Sr., and Dorothy Holton Saunders. He was a graduate of Louisville Academy and a United States Army Veteran. Sonny retired from Kesler Tire in Gainesville as a truck tire Salesman. Sonny loved animals of every kind, but loved dogs the most and would always bring home strays. He enjoyed morning meetings at Ingles catching up on local happenings.

Sonny was preceded in death by his parents, 2 sisters Diane S. Brown, and Brenda Josey, and is survived by his wife, of 56 years Martha L. Sams "Marty" Saunders, brother, Wayne Saunders, 3 sisters Nancy Austin (Tom), Kathy Josey (Wayne) and Gwenn Pope, several nieces, nephews' cousins, and lifelong friends.
