Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and funeral services of Mr. David "Scottie" Cole age 82 of Gibson who died Monday evening February 7, 2022, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday February 11, in the Mill Creek Baptist Church with Rev. Chris Johns officiating. Burial will follow in the Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.

A native of Gibson, Glascock County Mr. Cole was a son of the late James Malcolm Cole & Mamie Kitchens Cole. He was a 1958 graduate of Glascock County School and had retired from Forstmann & Company in Louisville after 40 years of service as a Wastewater Treatment Technician. He then worked for Usry's Mobile Home Hardware in Gibson and was a long-time member of Mill Creek Baptist Church. Scottie was an avid fisherman.  He fished many creeks with his family and friends.  Scottie enjoyed working the land with his tractor and gardening.  He loved all things outdoors.  His greatest pastime was spending time with his family especially with his grandchildren & great grandchildren.  Whether he was playing Santa, looking for Buffalo Girl or riding his four-wheeler with his wife, life was always an adventure.  Scottie was loved by everyone who met him.

Scottie was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers Malcolm Cole, Jr. and Louie Cole and is survived by his beloved wife of 58 years Jessie Cole, daughter, Ramona Martin, sons, Michael (Sue) Cole, Guy (Brandy) Cole, brother, Hoyt (Dotsie) Cole, all of Gibson, sister Arline Mitchell of San Antonio, TX., 10 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends

The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday February 10, at the funeral home.

Family requests in lieu of flowers make memorial contributions to Concerned Citizens of Glascock County, C/O Debbie Williford 1972 Highway 171 N. Gibson, GA 30810.

Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Care of Gibson is in charge of arrangements.
