Ruth J. (Johnson) Jacobsen

July 9, 1918 — January 3, 2014

Mrs. Ruth J. Jacobsen, age 95, of College Street, Gibson, died Friday, January 3, 2014, at her residence.

Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Monday, January 6, in the Taylor Funeral Home in Gibson with Rev. Dean Watson, Billy Wasden, and Connie Kitchens Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in the Johnson's Methodist Church Cemetery in Warrenton.

Mrs. Jacobsen, a native of Warren County, was a daughter of the late James Lawrence & Eula Hammett Johnson. While living in Columbus she worked at Lee's Drug Store, served as Postmaster, and had worked as Front Manager of Master Klean Cleaners. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Columbus, and for many years attended Gibson First Baptist Church. Mrs. Ruth loved everybody and everybody loved her.

Mrs. Jacobsen was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ross W. Jacobsen, Sr.; brother; James Lawrence "Buddy" Johnson; sisters, Lorene Turner, Louise Dawson, and Agnes Palmer; and is survived by daughter, Robin & Victor Usry of Gibson; son, Ross Jacobsen, Jr. & Jacqueline Jovings of Woodstock; sister, Dora Johnson Hamrick of Macon; several nieces, nephews, and many friends.

The Jacobsen family will receive friends 4:00 to 6:00 PM Sunday, January 5 at the funeral home.
