Taylor funeral home of Gibson announces the death and funeral services for Mrs. Ruby Brassell Williford, age 87 of Highway 171 North, Gibson, Georgia who died Friday July 25, 2014 in the Gibson Health and Rehabilitation center.
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Avera, with Rev. Bill Seaman & Rev. Bobby Farmer officiating. Burial will follow in the Magnolia Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Larry Kitchens, Chuck Cason, Mike Neal, Jimmy Steptoe, Joe Wisniewski & Ralph Mauldin.
Mrs. Ruby was a native and a lifelong resident of Glascock County; she was a daughter of the late Fred & Lois Snider Brassell. Mrs. Williford had worked in the cafeteria at the Naval Ordnance Plant during world War two, had worked as a telephone operator and ran the family store Williford Gas & Grocery in Gibson with her husband for 18 years. She was a homemaker, Sunday school teacher, treasurer for NARFE, and helped with the Kilpatrick Association disaster relief program for more than 13 years. She was a longtime member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Avera.
Mrs. Williford was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Jack Williford , sister, Vera Deason, brother, Joe Brassell and is survived by sons & daughter-in-laws, Jack Leonard & Phyllis Williford of Social Circle, and Wayne & Debbie Williford of Gibson, grandchildren: Brenna Coggins, Kerri Shelton, Jason Williford and Brian Williford, six great-grandchildren, Kaylee Coggins, Megan Coggins, Kale Williford , Jaleigh Williford, Jacob Williford & Sophia Williford, sister, Edna Dixon of Avera, brother George (Red) Brassell, of Thomson , several nieces, nephews and many friends.
The Williford family will receive friends 7:00 to 9:00 PM Sunday July 27, at the funeral home.
