Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the services of Mr. William Roy Gaston, age 86, of Walden Brett Road in Wadley who died Tuesday morning February 8, 2022, in the Augusta University Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 3:00 pm, Sunday, February 13, 2022, in the Moxley United Methodist Church with Rev. David Boggs and Mr. Joe Cheeks officiating. Burial will follow in the family lot in the Wadley City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Harold Gaston, Sam Gaston, Greg Gaston, Tim Williams, Charles Hendrix and Chris Sheppard. Honorary Pallbearers will be Butch Ware, Gary Smith, Abbott Easterlin, Joe Cox, Randy Brett, Rocky Harris and members of the Ingles AM Coffee Club.

A native and lifelong resident of Wadley Mr. Gaston was a son of William Robert Gaston and Effie Georgia Gaston. He graduated from Wadley High School in 1953 and served in the Army National Guard. Roy was a long-time faithful member of the Moxley United Methodist Church where he had taught Sunday School served on the (PPR) Pastor Parish Relationship and was a Steward of the church. Mr. Gaston was a retired self-employed Plumber and a life-long member of the Plumbers & Steamfitters Local Union 150 in Augusta. He loved to fish, hunt, and spend time with his family and friends, but his greatest past time was spent with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Mr. Roy was generous to a fault and offered help to anyone who was in need, whether it be monetary, a prayer, or lending a helping hand, or just an ear to listen. He was a role model for countless people in the community and leaves behind a legacy of service and selflessness and his community has greatly benefited from his efforts.

Roy was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Sonny Gaston and Jack Gaston.  He is survived by his loving wife of 66 years Mary Lois Gaston, of Wadley, daughters Deborah G. Pate of Gibson, Joan G. Barsh of Gibson, Karen G. Sheppard (Tommy) of Avera and Ann G. Baker (Billy) of Evans, 9 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

Visitation with the family will be held from 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, Sunday, February 13, 2022, at Moxley United Methodist Church prior to the services.
