Mr. Robert N. Black, age 92, of West Main Street, Gibson, went to be with the Lord Saturday evening January 11, 2014, in the Doctors Hospital in Augusta.
Funeral services will be held 2:00PM Tuesday in the Jordan Chapel Church of God in Edgehill with Rev. David Jones and Rev. Stacey Williford officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery
A native of Avera, Mr. Black was a son of the late Freddie Herman & Louise Bridges Black. He was a World War II Army veteran, a lifelong farmer, and was of the Church of God faith.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife of 63 years Mildred Kelley Black; 8 siblings and 2 grandchildren: Chad Black and Hailey Elizabeth Black; and is survived by daughters: Joann & Larry Kitchens of Gibson, Charlene Hadden of Dearing, and Linda & James Buffington of Thomson; sons: Melvin Black of Gibson, Noah & Elaine Black of Thomson, Vance Black of Gibson, Jesse Black of Warthen, and Ronnie & Lisa Black of Gibson; 20 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and 1 great-great-grandchild; several nieces, nephews, and friends.
The Black family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00PM Monday at the funeral home.
