Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death of Mr. Richard “Rick” McFarland, age 73, of Louisville, who died early Thursday morning June 4th, 2026.
A memorial and celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, June 27th, 2026, in the chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Louisville.
A native of Rutherford, TN, Rick lived most of his life in Jefferson County. Since 1981, Rick called Louisville his home. He retired in 2016 from Thiele Kaolin with over 25 years of service in the Maintenance and Construction Department. He could build, weld, or repair just about anything. He was an avid outdoorsman and loved to hunt and fish. Every spring and summer you could find him in his garden tending to tomatoes, squash, peppers, and potatoes. The deer never let him harvest his okra much to his frustration. He was a man of many quiet talents, never ostentatious, and always steady. He was a friend and a helper to everyone who knew him.
Rick is preceded in death by his parents, Richard Henry McFarland and Mavis Jean (Lowery) McFarland. He is survived by his daughter Nakia McFarland Exley (Chris) of Monroe, GA, his siblings Timm McFarland and Regina West of Jackson, TN, a niece, nephew, and several cousins.
Please join the family to celebrate Rick’s life on Saturday, June 27th at 2:00 at the Taylor Funeral Home Chapel in Louisville.
Taylor Funeral Home & Cremation Care of Louisville is in charge of arrangements.
