GIBSON, GA - Mr. Raymond L. Lamb, age 76, of Calhoun Street died Monday afternoon, September 8, 2014 in the University Hospital in Augusta. He transcended into the presence of his Heavenly Father God and his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for life everlasting.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, September 12, 2014 in Magnolia Baptist Church with Rev. James Canada officiating. Burial will follow in the family's lot in the Johnson's United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Anthony Lamb, Scott Lamb, Mike Carpenter, Darron Starling, Ed Allen and Matt Deloach.
Mr. Lamb was the son of the late Tommy Lee Lamb and Orell Smith Lamb Orr. He was raised, schooled and graduated from Glascock County Consolidated School in 1957. He had lived in North Augusta and Augusta for the past 52 years where he retired from United Merchant, Bath Mill Division with 28 years of service and Walton Rehabilitation Hospital with 18 years of service. Raymond was also an Augusta newspaper independent carrier for 18 years.
Mr. Lamb had a passion for car racing and followed the NASCAR circuit for many years believing his call should have been to race cars. Raymond's kind, compassionate and generous spirit was known by many whose paths crossed his along the way. He was especially proud of his ability to donate blood to give others another chance at life in which he donated over 20 gallons. Friends remember Raymond always leaving them with a word of wisdom, and his eagerness to witness for his Lord was evident.
Raymond is preceded in death by his biological parents, and sister, Catherine Lamb Elson. In addition to his beloved wife, Elizabeth Ann Hart Lamb, he is survived by his sons; Gregory Alan Lamb and Charles Ashley Lamb of Gibson, grandchildren in which he was their special "Poppy": Dalton, Ashlie and Nicholas Lamb of Gibson, a sister; Eva Mullins (Bascil) of Kite, mother; Beulah D. Lamb of Gibson, his devoted sister-in-laws and their husbands: Becky Carpenter (Mike), Brenda Starling (Darron) and Joan Allen (Ed). several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, those desiring, may make contributions in Raymond's memory to the Alzheimer's Association, 106 SPR Drive Suite A, Evans, GA 30809.
The Lamb family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday, September 11, at the funeral home.
