Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and funeral service of Mr. Randy E. Walden, age 72 of Sandersville who died Tuesday, October 19, 2021, at University Hospital, Augusta, Ga.

A service of remembrance will be held at a later date.  Burial will be in the Gibson City Cemetery.

A native of Gibson, Randy was born on July 20, 1949, a son of the late Lester T. Walden Sr. and Ruth Walden. He was a retired bagger for the Ga/Tn mining company and a member of Temple Praise Church in Sandersville.

Randy was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Ann W. Reid, granddaughter, Michelle Smith. He is survived by his wife Virginia Durden Walden, a sister, Dale Price (Paul) of Gibson, a brother, Lester T. Walden, Jr. (Vilanda) of Augusta, a daughter, Latasha Burkett of Sandersville, four stepsons, David Mathis of Sandersville, Johnny Mathis of Sandersville, Scott Mullis (Serena) of Davisboro, and Rusty Mullis of North Carolina, one stepdaughter, Angie Blue (William) of Wrightsville, 11 grandchildren, three great grandchildren, and several nieces, nephews, and friends.

For those desiring, in lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made to Gibson Community Church, c/o Kathy Chalker, P.O. Box 72, Gibson, GA 30810.

The family will receive friends 2:00 to 5:00 PM Friday, October 22, at the funeral home.

Taylor Funeral Home and Cremation Care of Gibson is in charge of arrangements.
