Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and funeral services of Mrs. Peggy Ann Hayes Lyons age 78 of Gibson who died Wednesday morning January 11, 2023, in the Gibson Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Saturday, January 14, 2023, at Mt. Zion Congregational Methodist Church in Mitchell with Rev. T. F. Yawn officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  The Pallbearers are Jackson Lyons, Mitchell Lyons, Ryan Usry, Steven Usry, Kevin Johnson, Greg Johnson, Andy Johnson, and Austin Coxwell.

Peggy was a native of Thomson, GA but a long-time resident of Mitchell. She was a graduate of Thomson High School and retired from Richmond/Burke Job Training Authority where she worked as a Job Counselor. Peggy was married to Billy Lyons March 20, 1966. They were active members of Mt. Zion Congregational Methodist Church for over 50 years. Her greatest joy was spending time with her family but she also loved a game of Bingo, tending to her flowers and crocheting.

Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Ira Lee Hayes and Nell Elizabeth Crowell Hayes, daughter Barbara Ann Lyons, husband Billy Lyons, and sister Linda Tudor. She is survived by three of her children, Mark (Jamey) Lyons of Thomson, Denise Reeves of Gibson, and Mike (Kathy) Lyons of Gibson; grandchildren, Olivia (Jordan) Winn, Jackson Lyons, Mitchell Lyons, Rachel Reeves, and Steven (Kelley) Usry; eight great-grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday the 13th at the funeral home.
