Monnie Genine Hicks

Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and services of Mrs. Monnie Genine Daniel Hicks, age 91, of Mitchell, who died on Friday, March 13, 2026.

The family will receive friends from 1:00pm to 3:00pm at the funeral home on Monday, March 16. A graveside service will follow at Friendship Baptist Church in Mitchell with Pastor Bub Gibbs officiating. Pallbearers will be Chris Ivey, Lance Blue, Taylor Tolbert, Jamie Tolbert, Andrew Odum.

A native of Mitchell, Monnie was a daughter of Nesbert & Lolia Downs Daniel. She retired from the United States Postal Service and was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Mitchell.

Monnie was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Walter Lloyd Hicks; son, Carey Hicks; and is survived by daughters: Dianne Hunt of Dearing, Debbie Johns of Washington, Joyce Hicks-Paugh of Johnston, SC, Kathy Jowers (Jimmy) of Hohenwald, TN; sons: Walter “Butch” Hicks (Marie) of Statesboro, Donald Hicks (Julie) of North Augusta, SC, Dennis Hicks of Appling, Randy Hicks of Houston, TX, and 14 grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to FCA Hohenwald, Tennessee.
