Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and funeral services of Mr. Milton Alfred Pierce, age 97 of West 8th Street Louisville, who died Sunday evening, September 17, 2017 at his residence.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Wednesday, September 20, 2017 in the Louisville United Methodist Church with Rev. Peter Vermulen and Rev. Finley Limehouse officiating. Pallbearers will be: Brian Pierce, David Pierce, Jeremy Pierce, John Newberry, Carl Johnson and Lyndon Ramage. Burial, with Military Honors, will be held in the Louisville City Cemetery.

Mr. Pierce was born April 3, 1920 in Dodge County, GA, a son of the late Henry Alexander Pierce and Cherry Leola Phillips Pierce. He graduated from Empire High School and the University of Georgia with a Bachelor's degree in Forestry. He was a United States Army Veteran, serving in World War II and retired after many years of service as a forester. Milton was an assistant Scout Master for the Boys Scouts of America, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Woodman of the World, a Mason and a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Milton was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Columbus Pierce, Olan Pierce and Bernice Pierce; sisters, Lois Ramage, Mamie Lancaster and Rosa Lee Ross and is survived by his wife of 71 years, Audrey Johnson Pierce of Louisville; daughter, Margaret and William Newbery of Louisville; son, Charles Alfred and Linda Pierce of Watkinsville; 6 grandchildren, John Edward Newberry, Amy Newberry Jones, Julie Newberry Nicholson, Brian Charles Pierce, David Nicholas Pierce and Jeremy Tyler Carpenter Pierce; 6 great grandchildren, Justin Alan Fletcher, Jackson Pierce Fletcher, Ava Reece Nicholson, Emma Julianne Newberry, Carly Ann Newberry and Samantha Brantley Jones.

The Pierce family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, September 19, 2017 at the funeral home.
