Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and funeral services of Mr. Michael Anthony Deraney, age 40 of Griffin Chapel Road Mitchell, Georgia, who died Thursday, April 16, 2015.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Monday in the Mitchell United Methodist Church with Rev. Mary Griswell & Rev. Dawn Brake officiating. Pallbearers will be Bill Garrett, Don Garrett, Rusty Sanders, Robert Arnett, Luke Deraney & George Deraney, Jr. Interment will follow in the Sparta City Cemetery with Rev. Al Kurtz officiating.

Michael was a native of McDuffie but had lived in Mitchell most of his life. He was a self-employed log truck operator, owner of MAD trucking, and was a member of Mt. Zion Congregational Methodist Church.

Mr. Deraney is survived by his beloved wife; Brandy Deraney, daughters; Jessie Deraney & Ariel Deraney, all of Mitchell, mother & step father; Sally & Kenneth Wells of Sparta, father & step mother; George & Carrie Deraney of Mitchell, sister; Erin D. (Robert) Arnett of Warthen, brothers; Jason Deraney & George Deraney, Jr., both of Mitchell, father in-law & mother in-law; Albert & Henrietta Arnold of Mitchell, several aunts, uncles & cousins, nieces & a nephew.

The family may be contacted at the residence on Griffin Chapel Road in Mitchell.

In lieu of flowers, the family request memorials be made directly to the funeral home.

The Deraney family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Sunday, April 19th at the funeral home.
