Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and funeral services of Mrs. Mattie Lee (McGraw) Thigpen, age 88 of Avera, who died Friday, March 31, 2017.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 4, 2017 in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Avera, with Rev. Don Black & Rev. Steve Spencer officiating. Burial will follow in the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Bob Barrow, Dwain Pittman, Bernard Pittman, Norman Pittman, Mark Thigpen and Jimmy Black.
Mattie was a daughter of the late Thomas and Etta McGraw. She was a homemaker and an active member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, the Gleaners Sunday School Class and served as director of the WMU.
Mrs. Thigpen was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband of 59 years, Eulins Joe Thigpen and is survived by a brother, Russell and Christine McGraw of Mechanicsville, VA; nephew, Berkley and Denyse McGraw; 2 great nieces, Rachel and Erin and 1 great nephew, Chris.
The family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, April 3, 2017 at the funeral home.
