Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and funeral services of Ms. Mary Elizabeth Sasser, age 63, of Waynesboro who died Sunday morning June 23, 2024, in the Piedmont Health Care of Augusta. A funeral service will be held on Friday, June 28, at 11:00 am at Cross Community Church with Jerry Taylor officiating. Pallbearers will be James Davis, Chip Evans, Daniel Taylor, Roy Norton, Jimmy Polan, Chad Parker, Paul Lumley, and Vern Franklin. Honorary Pall bearers will be employees of Gold Cross Ambulance Service and Jefferson County Fire Departments.
Mary was born in Waynesboro, the daughter of the late Rupert Wayne Sasser, Sr and Mary Nell Kelly Sasser. She was a graduate of Burke County High School, then attended Lanier Tech becoming a Paramedic, then she attended Swainsboro Tech becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse. Mary's life was always about serving her fellow man and had worked with Burke County as an EMT, Jefferson County Hospital as a Nurse, and a dispatcher for Jefferson County 911. She had worked for Rural Metro Ambulance service and with Gold Cross Ambulance service rising to the status of Captain. Mary was a certified instructor teaching first responder classes and CPR certification and was a Volunteer and Fire & Life Safety Educator with Louisville Fire Department. She was a member of Friendship Baptist Church in Bartow.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her brother Rupert Wayne Sasser, Jr. She is survived by her sister-in-law Gloria Sasser of Waynesboro, nephews Allan Sasser of Waynesboro and Nathan Sasser (Kim) of Summerville, SC, great nieces Autumn Davis (Joshua), Halie Byrd (Asa), Abbygayle Vasquez (Miguel), great nephew Nicholas Sasser, and great-great nieces Kenzeigh Davis, Lucy Vasquez, great-great nephews, William Byrd, Kason Davis and many lifelong friends.
The Sasser family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Thursday evening at the funeral home.
