Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and services of Mrs. Mary Edith Hayes age 81 of Gibson who died Friday, March 3, at her residence.

Funeral services to celebrate Mary's life will be held on Sunday, March 5, at 2 pm at Mitchell Full Gospel Church, with Rev Kyle Downs and Rev Jacky Downs officiating.  Burial will follow in Bethel Church cemetery in Gibson.  Pallbearers will be Richard Cooper, Landon Cooper, Blake Robinson, Kayleb Hadden, Lee Simmons, Matthew Johnson and Rhoen McGahee

A native of Gibson, Mrs. Hayes was a daughter of the late Odell Whitehead and Tiny Lauree Denton Whitehead.  Mrs. Hayes had worked for the Stapleton Garment Company and Atwell Pecan Company.  She loved attending church and serving her Lord.  Her greatest pastime was spending time with her family who she loved very much.  She was a homemaker most of her life and just a simple woman.

Mrs. Hayes was preceded in death by her parents, husband Walter Hayes, sisters Lizzie Johnson, Massie Haywood, Helen Brooks, brother Odis Whitehead and is survived by her daughters June Cooper (Ricky) of Gibson, Jenny Bales of Evans, Janice Johnson (Allen) of Mitchell and Marie Bales of Gibson, and a brother Josh Whitehead of Thomson, 9 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandson, several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Saturday, March 4, from 6 to 8 pm at Taylor Funeral Home in Gibson.
