Mary Bowles

Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and funeral services of Mrs. Mary Elizabeth Bowles, age 88 of Highway 221 South, Bartow, Georgia who died Saturday January 3, 2015 in the University Hospital Augusta.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, January 6, at Old Bethel Baptist Church in Bartow, with Mrs. Bowles being placed in the church at 10:00 AM. Mr. Tom Smith and Rev. Bill Eckles will officiate. Burial will follow in the Louisville City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Glenn Davis, Cody Williford, Christopher Williamson, Ward Bowles, Will Bowles and Eric Duzan. Honorary Pallbearers will be Jean Walden, Johnnie Walden, Shirley Wilson, Marie Smith, Loretta Samples, Violet Neal, Carolyn Cooper & Barbara Bowles.

A native of Louisville, Mrs. Bowles was a daughter of the late Wiley G. & Essie Irene Arrington Davis, Sr. She was a homemaker and a member of Old Bethel Baptist Church in Bartow, the Adult Sunday School class, and Women Mission Union. Mary loved farm life, gardening, sewing and spending time with her family.

Mrs. Bowles was preceded in death by her parents, husband; Willie Bowles, sister; Doris Gaston, brothers; Lonnie Davis & Hobby Davis and is survived by sons; Luther G. & Sheryl Bowles, of Louisville, Mark Edward & Tesie Bowles of Wadley, William J. & Stephanie Bowles of Gibson, daughters; Dianne B. & Wayne Smith of Commerce, Peggy B. & Duane Brooks of Stapleton, Elizabeth & Ronald Williford of Louisville, brother; W.G. Davis, Jr. of Louisville, sisters; Martha Strickland of Social Circle, and Sarah Bridges of Wilmington Island, 22 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great grandchildren, several nieces & nephews.

The family may be contacted at the residence, 4058 Highway 221 South in Bartow and will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday, January 5, at the funeral home.
