Margaret Deraney

Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death of Mrs. Margaret Deraney, age 87 of Mitchell, Georgia who died Monday night September 15, 2014 in the Gibson Health & Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:30 AM Saturday September 20, 2014 in the Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Thomson with Father Stephen Lyness serving as salabrent. Burial will follow in the family lot in the Mitchell City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Deraney, Jason Deraney, George Deraney, Matt Brown, Trey Logue, Tyler Owens, Luke Deraney & Bryan Clay.

Mrs. Deraney was a native of Mt. Olive, NC but had lived in Mitchell for many years. She was a daughter of the late Habib T & Nellie Baddour Farah. Along with her husband, John, Margaret owned and operated Deraney Department Store in Sparta, GA for more than 35 years and was a member of   Queen of Angels Catholic Church in Thomson.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents, husband John Habib Deraney, sisters, Elizabeth Cannon & Frances Farah, brother Fred Farah and is survived by; daughters, Ann Clay of Miami, FL., Rose Marie Deraney of Mitchell, sons, Daniel Deraney of Mitchell, George Deraney of Dublin. sister, Louise Joseph of Elizabeth Town, NC., brother, Tom Farrah of McDonough, GA., 11 grandchildren, 14 great grandchildren, several nieces & nephews.

The Deraney family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday with a prayer service at 7:30 at the funeral home.
