Luther Earl Porter

GIBSON - Mr. Luther Earl Porter, age 76, of 628 Lamb Street, died Monday in the University Hospital Augusta, Georgia.
Funeral Services will be held 3:00 PM Thursday, February 14, in the Gibson United Methodist Church, with Rev. Ed Chance officiating. Burial will follow in the Gibson United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Glenn Rabun, Ross Rabun, Larry Duggar, Coty Faglier, Kevin Mitchell, Mike Lyons, Jamie Porter and Vernon Perry.
Mr. Porter was a son of the late Jonah B. & Glennie B. Porter. He worked over 40 years as a mill superintendent in the saw mill business and retired from Pollard Lumber Company in Appling, GA.
Mr. Porter was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers, 3 sisters, and is survived by his wife Frankie Neal Porter, his sons Mitchell Porter of Springfield, Gregory (Kendall) Porter of Augusta, and Bruce (Starr) Logue of Lugoff, SC., daughters Tonya (Forrest) Dyar of Hilton Head, SC, Robin (Lauren) Robinson of Springfield, and Tracy (Matthew) Knoeferl of Harlem, and 13 grandchildren.

The Porter family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Wednesday, February 13, at the funeral home.
Sheppard Funeral Home, 57 College Place, Gibson, 706-598-2301, is in charge of arrangements.
