Taylor Funeral Home of Louisville announces the death and funeral service of Mr. Loyd New, age 88 of Louisville who died peacefully Thursday morning September 28, 2023, at his home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM Sunday, October 1, 2023, in the Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home Louisville with Rev. Tim Pendrey, Rev. Howard Conine and Rev. Karen Breedlove officiating. Burial will follow in the Uvalda City Cemetery. Pallbearers will be John Davis, Micheal New, Phillip Bryan, Wayne Mathis, Jimmy New and Dudley New, Jr.

A native of Lyons, Loyd was one of nine children of James New and Eula Bell New. He was a longtime member of Providence Baptist Church in Grange. Loyd was a jack of all trades and had worked as a carpenter with J.P. Morgan Construction and Unruh Construction. He loved to fish, garden and hunt, especially coon hunting and had raised a National Grand night Purple Ribbon Champion Coon Dog, but his greatest pastime was spending time with his family.

Preceded in death by parents, sisters, Evelyn, Grace, Nicky, Geraldine, and Faye brothers Bennie, Carlton and Joseph and is survived by wife of 62 years Phyllis New, son, Stacey New (Gail) of Milledgeville, daughter, Rev. Karen Breedlove (Bill) of Adrian, grandsons, Derek Davis (Amanda) of Bartow, John Davis, of Pooler, Michael New, of Milledgeville, Bryan Pearson (Bronwyn) of Milledgeville, great grandson, Derek Davis, Jr., of Bartow, great granddaughters, Ariana Person, of Milledgeville, and Elena Pearson, of Milledgeville, several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The New family will receive friends from 12:00 to 1:00 PM Sunday at the Funeral Home.
