Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and funeral services of Mr. Kenneth Lloyd Brassell, age 86, of Highway 102 East, Gibson, who died Sunday morning, November 17, 2024, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM Wednesday, November 20, in the Sheppard Memorial Chapel of Taylor Funeral Home in Gibson with Rev. Ed Chance officiating. Burial will follow in the Gibson Methodist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour before the services at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Jason Williams, Dean Reese, Greg Johnson, Anthony Usry, Phillip Raley, and Steven Hilson. Honorary pallbearers will be Tracey Hughes and Keith Socky.
Lloyd was born on the family farm in Glascock County on Cal-Snider Hill, March 16, 1938. He graduated in 1957 from Glascock County School and went to work with E-Z-Go in the 1960's. He then opened Lloyd's Auto Parts & Garage on January 1, 1970, and opened Lloyds Motor Company a few years later.
He had a passion for motorsport racing, stock cars, go carts, and dirt track cars in the '60's to '90's. On Sunday's you would have found him parked in front of the T.V. watching NASCAR; He is on his victory lap. Lloyd also had a passion for animals after his farm life, having dogs, horses, and goats over the years. He enjoyed going to his men's church meetings (what he would tell his grandkids).
He is preceded in death by his parents: Sallie Allen Brassell and Willie Brassell and his sisters and brothers: Kathryn Brassell, Florrie Langham (Leon), Martha Jackson (Jack), Mary Walden (George), Ed Brassell (Anette), Gene Brassell (Ann), Lee Brassell (Nell), and Jack Brassell (Miriam). He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Donna Brassell and his children: Donna Rae Gunn, Holli Poole, and Brady Brassell (Kristi); grandchildren: Nicollette Deal (Dallton), Dylan Gunn, Casey Rae Gunn, Macie Brassell, Sawyrr Hart, and Jason Williams (Jaycee); one great-grandchild: Harvey Leon Deal; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
