Mr. Lamar E. Williams, age 95 of Walnut Street, died Wednesday morning June 8, 2011 in the Jefferson Hospital.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Saturday June 11, 2011 in the Providence Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Montgomery & Rev. Edward Salter, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Billy Godowns, Bill Godowns, Lloyd New, Oliver Fervo, Joey Fervo, Shane Rabun, Neal Livingston, & Mark Braddy.  Honorary Pallbearers will be: Wayne Mathis, George Stickle, Billy Cooper, & John Livingston.

A native of Grange, Georgia Mr. Williams was a son of the late Bunyon W. William & Bessie Rhodes Williams. He was an Army veteran serving during World War II, where his unit landed in Normandy. During his career, Mr. Williams worked for Cape Kennedy Space Center, United Electronics Labor, RCA and General Electric. He was a lifelong member of Providence Baptist Church where he had served as a deacon.

Lamar was preceded in death by his parents, a daughter, Ann Canfield, a sister, Mary W. Hartley, a brother, Roger W. Williams, and is survived by a sister, Sara W. Gibson of Louisville, a brother, J. Lucious (Audry) Williams of Louisville, sister-in-law, Giesla K. Williams of Louisville, grandson, Bobby Canfield, Jr. of Louisville, KY a great grandson, Bobby Canfield, III of Louisville, KY his extended family at the Home Place in Louisville, several nieces & nephews.

The Williams family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Friday at the funeral home.
