Katie Swint

Taylor Funeral Home of Gibson announces the death and funeral services of Mrs. Katie Ruth Usry Swint, age 89 of Gibson, who died Sunday, March 6, 2016 in the Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Funeral services will be held 3:00 PM Wednesday, March 9, 2016 at Friendship Baptist Church, Mitchell, GA with Rev. Tommy Harwell officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Mrs. Swint will lie in state from 2:00 to 3:00 PM.

A native of Glascock County, Katie was a daughter of the late Robert Gordon Usry and Charlotte Hall Swint Usry.  She was a retired L.P.N. with Tri County Health and the Assistant Director of Nursing at the Gibson Health and Rehabilitation Center.

Mrs. Swint was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Charlie Swint, daughter, Nona Dale Swint, siblings, Willie David Swint, Ab Swint, Vess Swint, Deanie Swint and Evelyn Thigpen and is survived by sons; James Swint (Sherry) of Hephzibah and Larry Swint (Susan) of Mitchell, daughter, Barbara Swint of Gibson, sister, Emmie Davis of Augusta, Granddaughters, Sarah Walters (Roy) of Greenville, SC, Jennifer George (Ben) of Greenville, NC and Rebecca Clark (Eric) of Gibson, grandson, Matt Swint (Katie) of Gibson, great-grandchildren, Zachary Barrow, Armando Walters, Rachel Walters, Gabe George, Eli George, Tristan Clark, Ansley Clark, Alyssa Clark, Caden Swint and Kinley Swint, several nieces and nephews.

The Swint family will receive friends 6:00 to 8:00 PM Tuesday, March 8, 2016 at Taylor Funeral Home, Gibson.

If so desired, the family request memorials be made to the Friendship Baptist Church Memorial Fund.
